This site has been
hosted in the attempts to give a base by which Adoptees and Birth Parents are able to
reunite.
I was fortunate to trace my daughter who I
gave up for adoption in Bulawayo in September 1977. I was also a young girl who was
sent to St Clare's, the home for un-married mothers in Bulawayo, to wait out the time and
then promptly sent home after having given birth and signing the adoption papers.
ot all of the stories have such happy endings and it is important for everyone searching
to be prepared for the possibility that they may be rejected.
Some of the adoptees are told of their circumstances from birth, later on in life and some
are not told at all. Some adoptees may not want to be reunited and the same goes for
bparents. Some of the bparents spouses AND their other children may not know of
their past - therefore it is most important to maintain confidentiality.
When submitting your details to the data base it is not common policy to place your names
on the site. However in some circumstances it has been necessary to help in the
search. Your contact details will not be placed on the site.
Once a match is made it is so important to seek assistance from welfare associations and
have some counselling as this period in most instances is very emotional and everyone
reacts differently. |
